Specialists in Upset Prevention & Recovery Training

Enhancing flight safety

The leading cause of fatalities in commercial aviation is Loss of Control In Flight (LOC-I). Flight Performance Training specialise in the delivery of Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT). We take a holistic approach that incorporates theoretical and practical training, through enhancing Attitude, Skill and Knowledge (A.S.K) we aim to build resilience within the pilot community.

FPT has created the A.S.K program for all pilots no matter the stage of their career. This industry driven program focuses on the Pilots Attitude with regards to CRM and TEM. It builds on three vital skills, Hand flying, Automation management and Monitoring as well as enhancing the pilots Knowledge in areas such as the causes of LOC-I, aerodynamics, human performance and much more.

The components of the A.S.K program are not new they have simply been applied to aviation. The program takes its principles from Bloom’s taxonomy, a set of three hierarchical models used to classify educational learning objectives into levels of complexity and specificity.

The affective domain is where people react emotionally and their ability to feel other living things is considered.

The psychomotor domain is the individual’s ability to manipulate a tool or instrument, in this case an aircraft.

The cognitive domain considers how individuals remember, understand, apply, analyse, evaluate and synthesize information.

FPT offer the same ideology and professional standard to its Aerobatic and PPL courses as it does to the A.S.K program.

Our Aircraft

The Slingsby T67 Firefly, originally produced as the Fournier RF-6, is a two-seat aerobatic training aircraft, built by Slingsby Aviation in Kirkbymoorside, Yorkshire, England. It has been successfully used by the UK armed forces, where the Royal Air Force used Slingsby T67Ms as their basic trainer between 1995 and 2010. The Slingsby has also been used by the Royal Hong Kong Auxiliary Air Force, the Royal Jordanian Air Force (still currently used), and other military training schools around the world for many years. The aircraft has full inverted capability and is stressed to +6/-3 G.
